“VHS provides quality in-home supports for the elderly and individuals with disabilities.”
About Victory Human Services
We accomplish this mission through a partnership with individuals and families, community organizations, and a highly skilled team of diverse and culturally competent staff. Offering compassionate and effective services has been the hallmark of VHS.
Victory Human Services (VHS) is a private non-profit organization, founded in 2000 by a group of health care professionals in the field to mend the disadvantage in the human service area in Massachusetts. People with disabilities who are members of ethnic, cultural and linguistic minorities do not, in general, receive the same quality of support services as others in the Commonwealth.
The primary challenges involved are:
Cultural beliefs about what it means to be disabled
Barriers to family participation
A persistent lack of culturally competent providers
Our primary goal is to ensure the health and safety need of our clients while maximizing their potential for self-determination, personal fulfillment, and community integration. We also strive to model best practices in culturally and linguistically competent service delivery. Because the services that we provide and the expertise that we offer are in short supply in the Greater Boston area. Since it's founding in 2000, we have grown gradually and steadily.
We meet the above challenges by reaching people with disabilities and their families in the comfort of their own cultures and by acknowledging their distinct ways of communicating, understanding, and thrive in the world.
We bring together individuals who share common languages and cultural identities through a service system that embodies and celebrates diversity. Victory Human Services management and staff are reflective of the individuals we serve.
Our staff members comprise of individual from different spectrum of the globe. Understanding and relating to those we serve, is pivotal.
